Winner of Maritz Group's 'University Challenge'
employee incentive scoops £1,000
25th April, 2008 - Performance improvement company Maritz today released details of its internal incentive programme in which the winner was awarded £1,000. The incentive, which commenced in January, was designed by Maritz' internal incentive team to increase employees' knowledge of their own organisation and of sister companies MMM and DMS (Delegate Management Services).
Monthly on-line quizzes, using Maritz' proprietary technology, featured questions to which the answers could generally be found within recent internal communications or the relevant websites, meaning all employees had an equal chance of winning the £1,000 top prize. To encourage as many people as possible to take part, the first ten people to score full marks each month won £25 on their reward card.
Just 10 employees scored 10 out of 10 in each round to qualify for the final, held at a quarterly off-site company meeting in Marlow, Bucks on Monday 21st April, attended by 200+ Maritz, DMS and MMM employees.
The winners names were picked from a hat to split into two teams and asked 10 questions in turn by host Nick Bender, Maritz' Managing Director - teams were allowed to confer, University Challenge style. The winners achieved a score of 8 out of ten and a final question was asked, to which the team had to write down their individual answers, to win the top prize.
The first prize of £1,000 on his company stored-value reward card was won by Andrew Sanderson, Facilities Manager at Maritz, who said: "I was delighted, if a bit surprised, to realise I had won. My wife and I have often said we would love to re-visit Valencia, so that's how I will be spending my winnings".
Team members Anne Dixon, Kathryn Hulse, Madeleine Murray and Clare Starck from Maritz each received £185 on their cards. Paula Collins, Olivia Kegg and Lisa McKenzie and Denise Tew from Maritz and Allesandro de Luca from DMS made up the other finalist team who were rewarded for their efforts with a bottle of champagne each.
Nick Bender commented: "All of those who took part in the final are winners to me. I was delighted at the level of enthusiasm throughout the programme and we had great fun on the day."
